Why are more and more mobile subscription customers migrating to PrePay?

I think many of us have noticed this in recent years, a marked migration from the subscription area to the PrePay card area. People simply don't want subscriptions anymore and if you look at it for a moment, there is no single reason or cause why this is happening. Let's discuss the main reasons subscription customers want to switch to PrePay.

Why more and more mobile subscription customers are migrating to PrePay

1. The card's benefits are sometimes more numerous than the subscription. I was not a little surprised to see that there are more national minutes with a €7 PrePay option than with a similar value subscription. The same goes for the internet, and almost everything else in benefits except roaming. That said, why would anyone continue on the subscription since on the PrePay card they have better benefits?

2. The price for an Orange, Vodafone, or Telekom top-up is lower. Useful subscriptions, i.e. those that have interesting benefits start from 8-10 euros upwards. Well, with the PrePay card even for 5-6 euros you can find an extra option that meets all your requirements, including sufficient internet, sufficient national minutes, and so on, whether you belong to Vodafone, Orange, or Telekom.

3. The PrePay card offers complete freedom, it is not contract-based. 24 months is quite a long time, I think we can all agree on that. It's 2 years you can't drop the subscription without paying some extra fees. With the PrePay card, there are no contracts, if you are not happy with Vodafone service today, in 3 minutes you can go to an Orange point of sale and buy an Orange PrePay card

4. The porting process can be completed within a few hours of applying. Porting from one operator to another is a super simple process to complete if you are on a PrePay card. On a subscription, the porting process can only start once you've finished paying your full bill to your telecom company. Or you can only port at the end of your 24-month contract.

5. There are no unpleasant billing surprises as there is no invoice. I think all of us who have subscribed to a mobile operator in Romania have found ourselves at least once in the 2 years of our contract with much higher than normal bills. And to find out what it was, we had to go through the Caudine Forks, spend dozens of minutes with the robots in the Call Center, and so on. At PrePay you don't get bills!!!

6. Benefits aren't limited because you abuse them. One of the most annoying things that can happen with a subscription, and many of us have experienced it, is the limitation of benefits by the operator, if they think you are abusing the network. This happened to me when I had a Telekom subscription and I had a period where I was talking to someone a lot on the phone, for hours every day. I suddenly found that I couldn't make calls from the phone, even though the subscription was paid up to date. I had to speak to the Call Centre to start the benefits, and they explained the situation there. With the PrePay card, there are no such limits.
